| TrueCrypt v 7.1a TrueCrypt is a discontinued source-available freeware utility used for on-the-fly encryption (OTFE). It can create a virtual encrypted disk within a file, or encrypt a partition or the whole storage device (pre-boot authentication). On 28 May 2014, the TrueCrypt website announced that the project was no longer maintained and recommended users find alternative solutions. Though development of TrueCrypt has ceased, an independent audit of TrueCrypt (published in March 2015) has concluded that no significant flaws are present. Two projects forked from TrueCrypt: VeraCrypt (active) and CipherShed (abandoned). Initially, the authenticity of the announcement and new software was questioned. Multiple theories attempting to explain the reason behind the announcement arose throughout the tech community. Shortly after the end of life announcement of TrueCrypt, Gibson Research Corporation posted an announcement titled "Yes... TrueCrypt is still safe to use" and a Final Release Repository to host the last official non-crippled version 7.1a of TrueCrypt. They no longer host the final release repository as of 2022. Truecrypt.org has been excluded from the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. Their exclusion policy says they exclude pages at site owner request. |

Cool Edit Pro Cool Edit is a digital audio editing software program that developed by Syntrillium in 1990s. The program was distributed as crippleware for Windows computers. It has main capabilities such as Sound Filters via Digital Signal Processing Effect, Multi track function, Plug-Ins capability & Batch process files. The full version was useful and flexible, particularly for its time. Syntrillium later released Cool Edit Pro, which added the capability to work with multiple tracks as well as other features. Audio processing, however, was done in a destructive manner (at the time, most computers were not powerful enough in terms of processor performance and memory capacity to perform non-destructive operations in real-time). Cool Edit v2 added support for real-time non-destructive processing, and v2.1 added support for surround sound mixing and unlimited simultaneous tracks. Cool Edit also included plugins such as noise reduction and FFT equalization. Adobe purchased Cool Edit Pro from Syntrillium Software in May 2003 for $16.5 million as well as a large loop library called "Loopology". Adobe then renamed Cool Edit Pro to "Adobe Audition".
